Zambia is facing a fresh wave of controversy after one of its most popular athletes, the country’s football star, died in a skiing accident.
The 22-year-old athlete, known as Zambia Kiesha, was skiing near the southern city of Koror.
The news spread quickly after a local TV news program aired a report on the incident.
It showed Kiesa’s family members trying to calm the distraught mother of her child, who fell during a skiing run.
The video was taken by a local television reporter and aired on Zambia TV.
The footage was taken on April 14, when Kiesya fell while skiing in the Koror ski resort.
The family said she fell while climbing a small mountain, which was later confirmed by the National Ski and Snowboard Federation.
They were quoted as saying: “She fell, fell, she fell.”
Zambia has been under a state of emergency since last year, after the country was hit by a devastating drought.
The government has ordered an investigation into the incident and the death.
But it has not yet revealed the circumstances of Kieska’s death.
