FourFour two is your new favourite show about the internet and what you need to know about the new technology.
This week we’re talking to Andrew Fergusson, co-founder of the popular podcast FourFour Two.
Andrew: Thanks so much for taking my call.
FourFour Two: We’re really excited about it.
What can you tell us about FourFour?
Andrew: We’ve been podcasting since 2015.
We started off as a blog, then became podcast hosts and then podcasts became podcasting hosts.
We’ve always wanted to do podcasts, and we’ve always thought we could do it for free.
So we started out as a podcast.
We’ve now gone into a bigger format and we’re now doing a podcast every week.
We’re on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and the podcast is on the app.
FourFour is a really big platform, it’s the number one app in Australia.
We have a team of around 200 people, who work on a variety of podcasts.
Our most popular podcast is called The Moth, and it’s about the evolution of science.
Fourfour is about the future of science and technology.
We are also a social media podcast.
Four four means that we talk to you, we’re listening to you.
Four4 is the new show on FourFourtwo, and this week we talk about a lot of the same topics that we’re used to on Four Four.
What is FourFour2?
Four Four Two is a podcast that we love doing.
We love to do podcasting.
So this is the first podcast where we’ve done a whole series of podcasts, each one with different topics, with a different host, and each one has its own theme.
That’s a really good model.
It’s really interesting because we started off with just one podcast, but we’re really lucky to have a lot more podcasts in the future.
Andrew: Yeah, we do talk about quite a lot.
It gets a lot wider than just technology and science.
What’s the main focus of FourFour and FourFour 2?
Andrew, it is about social media and the future and the challenges of that.
And what does it mean for the future?
I guess the answer is that it means that people are starting to be more involved with the technology and the internet.
We don’t just talk about technology, we talk a lot about what it means to be human.
It means that a lot people are connecting, because they’re seeing the same things happening.
So it’s all about being connected.
We do a lot with social media, we have an app called FourFour that we use to talk to our audience, and that is our main focus.
But we also talk to the other podcasts on Fourfour, which is where we also get a lot involved with technology and internet.
We have a really cool video series, called ‘The Science Podcast’, which is about science and science education, and technology in schools.
We also have a podcast called ‘Inventing The Future’ that’s about building new technologies, and also about how we can use the technology we’re developing now to make better life for ourselves and our families.
So I guess I think we’re all really excited that we can do these two shows, because it means we’re getting more people involved in these topics.
Andrew, you were a co-creator of Four Four, what’s your favourite podcast you’ve done?
Andrew Ferguson: It was a really, really cool thing that FourFour came to me and asked me to do, and I was like, “Oh, what are you talking about?”
I was really excited, because I’ve never done a show about this before.
So, I started FourFour, and so far I’ve done four podcasts, so that’s pretty cool.
I think I’ve made about 200 podcasts, which has been really interesting.
So the thing is, I’ve been listening to podcasts for a long time, and all of the other things I’ve tried, I didn’t get into.
But FourFour really came to my attention when I read this blog post that said that I’d found a really neat podcast, which I’ve actually had to work on.
I’m a huge fan of podcasts and technology, so I just started listening to it and got really excited and I started to work really hard to make it a success.
FourEight: Thanks, Andrew, that was a pleasure to have you on the show.
